The microburst of wind we had tonight knocked over the power poles along 460 West. Power is out at the Salem Fiber headend and two of our other fiber huts. We are running on generator power. Our main feeder fiber uses the downed poles and it is laying on the ground but doesn't appear to be damaged. Service outages are possile but we will do everything possible to avoid Internet service outages. Many thanks to salem power and the salem fire department!

Our overhead fiber was hit and snapped in half at 500 West and SR198. Whoever hit it didn't stop. It stretched the metal cable strand and broke the 288 count fiber. Crews are going to replace the strand and fiber tonight so we still have a redundant path to all of the fiber huts. We feel your pain when the Internet is down and we will do everything possible to get is fixed. This outage lasted about 30 minutes.

We switched our connection and the colepark fiber hut is back online. Sorry about the inconvenience. I will give more information about the break when I have it.

We had a overhead fiber hit between the headend and the colepark fiber hut. The outage is affecting a fifth of the town. We are rerouting the traffic to the east side of town and we should have service restored soon.

Salem Fiber experienced a system wide outage tonight at approximately 9:25 PM and service was restored at about 9:50 PM. We were notified immediately of the outage and began diagnosing the problem. It was quickly determined the problem was upstream of Salem Fiber and we contacted our service provider which provides redundant Internet links. The Congent network experienced an outage that isolated all of Salt Lake City but because their routers were still servicing our circuit, BGP didn’t failover to the other provider until there was a manual shutdown of the Congent interfaces. I apologize for the service interruption. System wide outages are extremely rare but can not be completely prevented and I appreciate your patience when it does occur. Unfortunately, we did experience an outage in the Deer Creek and Cemetery West nodes tonight (2-6-2022). Logs show the outage began at 6:18 PM. I received the first call about the outage at 6:27 PM and we had it back up and running at 7:05 PM. My apologies to everyone affected.
